Grameenphone did a business of Tk 11,756 crore in 9 months

The profit of Grameenphone (GP), the top company in the country's telecom sector, has decreased by Tk 92 crore. In the first 9 months of this year (January-September), the company has made a profit of 2 thousand 172 crores. In the same period of last year, the profit amount was 2 thousand 264 crores. As a result, GP's profit fell by more than 4 percent in one year. This information was obtained from the company's third quarter financial report.

This financial report was finalized in the company's board meeting held on Monday. It was published on the company's website after the meeting. It can be seen that GP's business has also decreased compared to last year. Due to this, the profit has also decreased.

According to the financial report, GP has done a business of Tk 11 thousand 756 crore in the first 9 months of this year. During the same period last year, the company had a turnover of Tk 11,948 crore. As such, GP's business has decreased by Tk 192 crore or more than one and a half percent in one year. Grameenphone made an operating profit of Tk 4,188 crore against a business of Tk 11,756 crore from January to September this year. During the same period last year, the company's operating profit was Tk 4,297 crore. Accordingly, the operating profit has also decreased by Tk 109 crore compared to the previous year. Profit after tax is calculated after deducting tax, bank borrowing and interest expenses and foreign exchange gains and losses from operating profit. It is seen that the cost of bank loan and interest payment has also increased this year. In this sector, the company has spent 506 crore rupees in the first 9 months of this year. In the same period of last year which was Rs. 453 crores.

Analysis of financial report data shows that in the first 9 months of this year, Grameenphone paid Tk 1,503 crore to the government. During the same period last year, the company paid Tk 1,510 crore to the government treasury. Accordingly, the tax expenditure has decreased by Tk 7 crore this year.

In addition to the financial accounts for the 9 months of the year, Grameenphone also published the financial report for the July-September quarter separately in yesterday's meeting. It can be seen that, in these three months, the company has done business of about 4 thousand 17 crore rupees. At the same time last year, the amount was 4 thousand 10 crores. At the end of the third quarter of this year (July-September), Grameenphone made a profit of Tk 751 crore. In the same period last year, the amount was Rs. 751 crore. As such, the company's business and profits in the third quarter did not change much. As the business was slightly poor in the first six months of the year, it affected the profit for the nine months.

Meanwhile, the company's asset value has increased despite the decrease in profit. At the end of the first 9 months of the year, the market value of fixed and temporary assets of GP stood at 20 thousand 22 crores. At the same time last year, the amount was 19 thousand 132 crores. As such, Grameenphone's asset value has increased by Tk 490 crore within a year.
